Welcome

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. This is where I share my most recent photos, random thoughts and ramblings about my life and special, not so sporadic appearances by my dogs Harley and Bandit when they are feeling social. Make sure to check out the video below before scrolling down to take a look at my most recent work.

Oh, one more thing, please don’t hold that weird eye squint/scrunch thing that I do when I’m photographing against me. I wasn’t aware I did that until after I saw myself on film. Not one of my most flattering features for sure. =)

Married: Jill and Jack

Jack and Jill are seriously the most adorable couple!  There’s no other way to put it other than saying that these two were just so happy to be getting married to one another!  Jack and Jill tied the knot on a gorgeous day at Oak Tree Manor under some gorgeous oak trees.  A beautiful day indeed.

A huge thanks to Sarah for asking me to second shoot for her!

The handsome groom himself, Jack.

Jack and Jill decided to see each other before the wedding which I LOVE!  It gave us a ton of time to get some beautiful portraits of just the two of them on their wedding day and take advantage of that beautiful light before it got dark outside.

I think Jack approves  :)

I loved Jill’s dress from BHLDN.

Everyone is always so happy and full of smiles on a wedding day.  I love it.

This wedding looks so fun, creative and cute. I have to say my favorite photo in the bunch simply because of the grooms response is the one where he turns around to see his bride for the first time and you captured him with his ‘thumbs up’ signal. Haha. Sweet and innocent response.

Random Ramblings- 12

It’s May!!  I’m not sure why, but that makes me excited.  May is an awesome month, and it has nothing to do whatsoever with it being my birthday month.  :)

I find it ironic that Bandit doesn’t want to play with any of his scattered-on-the-floor toys until I decide it’s time to put them away.  Just last week there were at least ten of his toys on the floor.  He watched me pick them up, followed behind me as I put them in his toy box and then proceeded to take every single one of them out again.  I’m pretty sure it’s some sick game to him.

For the past month or so, ever since Instagram was released to the Android world (much against the joy of my iPhone friend users), Instagram and I have been getting acquainted with one another.  I’m pretty sure I annoy anyone and everyone who follows me on Instagram.  About 95% of what I upload are pictures of Harley and Bandit.  If you want to have your day brightened on a daily basis with a dose of Harley and Bandit, follow me @kaseylynnphoto.

An excerpt from a conversation with a friend a few weeks ago- ”pretty much feel free to ignore everything I say since I don’t know what I’m talking about” – My advice to them.  Insightful, I know.

If you’d like a good laugh or are easily amused like myself, google the word askew.  You’re welcome.

And just because….here’s a peak into my Instagram life over the past month.

I love pictures of Harley and Bandit!!! I could never overdose… coming from someone whose Chihuahua usually makes a daily post on Facebook!

Nautical Styled Shoot: Brynn and Zack

One of the hardest things after I moved back to Houston from Lubbock was that loss of all my close photographer friends.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m still friends with a lot of my Lubbock peeps, but being able to go out and shoot with friends just for fun, or having monthly lunches dedicated to photography and business related topics…there really is no replacement.  A lot of photographers work from home by themselves without much interaction with the outside world during the day except for Twitter and Facebook.   Speaking of Twitter, that’s how Katie (of Katie Lamb Photography) and I connected.  Social media can be an amazing tool.  I’m so glad Katie and I were able to connect on Twitter and eventually meet for lunch!  That lunch has formed into a great friendship that I’m incredibly grateful for.  We ended up going to WPPI together and continue to call or facebook chat (yes, facebook chat-  we are so cool it hurts) sometimes into the wee hours of the night with questions and bouncing ideas off each other while we are editing.

Recently, Katie and I decided to put together a styled shoot, nautical themed, just for fun and to get creative again.  Lucky for me, Katie is super crafty and handmade a lot of what we used during this shoot.

A huge thanks to Zack and Brynn who are adorably cute and were fantastic models for us!  These two are recent residents of Houston as of a few months ago, and I hope they had fun in front of our cameras and seeing another part of Houston.

Katie and I choose the Kemah Boardwalk for our location.  We had envisioned sailboats as part of the backdrop and ended up making friends with a couple of boat Captains to let us down to the dock area that was gated off.  It was so worth it, because these photos turned out AH-Mazing and just what we were envisioning!

A huge thanks to Thea from KAYO by Thea who did Brynn’s fabulous makeup!

Love these next two…I think it’s safe to say I love laughter.

Brynn, that picture on the left?  You look gorgeous!

A favorite.

Meet Cocoa

I know what you’re thinking, but no, I did not get another dog!  Although after going to a shelter to look for one with my mom for her to adopt, I could have easily come back with about twenty more lovable dogs.  Maybe one day I’ll own a dog farm.  :)

I waited a few weeks to introduce Cocoa to my blog, and you readers out there, because I wanted to make sure this adoption actually took and was legit.  See, Cocoa wasn’t the first dog we tried adopting.

About two months ago we went to shelter in Houston for a dog that I saw on the Lone Star Shih Tzu & Lhasa Apso Rescue.  We fell in love with her.  She was so sweet and lovable.  Mom decided to adopt her and we made an appointment to come back in two days after she had been spayed.  The day before we were to pick her up we got a call from the shelter saying that when they took her in for her surgery the vet noticed lots of wheezing and breathing issues.  Long story short, she ended up having lots of medical problems and the shelter wouldn’t let us adopt her.  We. Were. Crushed.  :(

Finally, about two weeks ago I was able to talk my mom into going to a different shelter and looking again.  That’s where we found Cocoa, a sweet, adorable Maltese-Terrier dog, full of long matted hair and in desperate need of a serious bath.  We adopted her that day, took her to our vet two days later where she got a clean bill of health and now there’s a new member of our family.  Harley and Bandit have been introduced and everyone seems to get along great for the most part.

Here’s Cocoa with extremely short hair after a trip to the groomers to get all her mats cut out.  I told ya…adorable, right?  :)

OMG! She is so cute! Your pups and mine need to have a play date!!

Janet Roberts - April 24, 2012 - 10:31 pm

OMG Kasey! I have Cocoa’s twin! My daughter, who lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada adopted a “Morkie” (Maltese-Yorkshire terrier mix) 2 years ago and we feel in love with him on visits to see her. In October last year, her job started to require her to work out of town every other week and she did not want to board “Paul” (don’t ask!) when she was away. Long story short…we became dog grandparents and have fallen even more head over heels in love with Paul since! He is a little more “apricot” than Cocoa but otherwise very similar. When I see your pictures of Bandit and Harley, I have often thought I need to have you do a shoot with Paul. He will go back to my daughters some day soon, so I will need some memories! Lets make a “play date”, “shoot date” soon! Your Mom will LOVE her! Dr. Jan

Married: Cayley and Kevin

I remember walking out of Starbucks, hoping, praying, crossing my fingers that Cayley and Kevin would choose me to be their wedding photographer.  It took a few weeks to hear back from them.  In fact, I actually thought they went with another photographer because they told me they would be in touch within a few days, and it had been two weeks.  Thankfully, Christmas Day I got an email from Cayley telling me they wanted me to document their day.  I can’t tell you how excited and happy I was that they choose me.

I love how in love these two are with one another and how excited they were to just be married.  And I’m super stoked that I was the one to document it for them.

Cayley and Kevin, I don’t think even you know how much I adore you two.  Ever since meeting in Starbucks and talking for what?  Like two hours?  I felt like I made two new friends that day.  When I make it to Hawaii for a visit, you’re the first one I’m calling!  :)

Huge thanks to my girl Katie for helping me out and being my second shooter for the night!

Don’t forget to check out Cayley and Kevin’s super cute engagement session here.

Cayley and Kevin got married at the Courtyard on St. Jame’s Place.

Cayley, you look STUNNING.

Kevin doesn’t look too bad himself.

LOVE these photos of Cayley and her Dad right before the ceremony.

Married!

This is what a fun wedding party looks like…laughing.  All. The. Time.

I normally don’t post pictures from the toasts, but I loved the emotion in these.

And some good ole’ dancing.

I was super happy when Cayley and Kevin were up for sneaking away for a few minutes to take some night portraits.

Congratulations Cayley and Kevin!
