Welcome

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. This is where I share my most recent photos, random thoughts and ramblings about my life and special, not so sporadic appearances by my dogs Harley and Bandit when they are feeling social. Make sure to check out the video below before scrolling down to take a look at my most recent work.

Oh, one more thing, please don’t hold that weird eye squint/scrunch thing that I do when I’m photographing against me. I wasn’t aware I did that until after I saw myself on film. Not one of my most flattering features for sure. =)

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day to all our past, present and future couples!!

Married: Sally and Tyler

Sally and Tyler’s wedding took place early this year in Galveston Island.  The love between these two was so obvious to anyone who spent a few minutes with them…it was a beautiful thing to witness.  Not only could you feel the love between Sally and Tyler, but between the entire family!  It was such a fun day, and I loved getting to play a small part of it.

A huge thanks to my friend Linda from Lubbock who asked me to help capture their day.

Ceremony- Christ Chapel

Reception: Willie G’s Seafood and Steakhouse

Live Band: Mambo Jazz Kings (They were awesome!)

I love how happy Sally’s dad is right before walking her down the aisle.

A few portraits

And then we went down to the beach.

I’m seriously considering starting to market to the Galveston area.  It’s a little ways of a drive for me, but really?  Photos like these are totally worth it!  Plus, I just loved the whole vibe of a beach themed wedding.

Then it was off to the reception!

I got to play with my new off camera lighting/wireless triggers and I was in love with them the entire night!

This group was a ton of fun.

Laura - LOVED the beach photos. You really captured this couple beautifully Kasey. And those bridesmaid dresses are beautiful. This looks like a great wedding to have attended.February 12, 2012 – 10:24 pm

Bandit- 1 Year

Last Thursday was a big day in our house.  February 9th marked Bandit being with me for one year!  In some ways it feels like just yesterday I brought home a straggly looking dog, and in other ways it seems as though he’s been with me forever!  Since Bandit was a stray, I also don’t know his exact birthday, so his one year anniversary with me also marks his birthday! We believe Bandit to be around 2 years-old.

This was Bandit when he showed up to my house a year ago before seeing a groomer for the first time.  I can’t believe I didn’t think enough to take some real pictures of him with something other than my phone!  I could kick myself now.

And this is Bandit today.  If you didn’t know by now, yes, I am THAT person.  The type of person who puts birthday hats on her dog to celebrate!

Laura - Haha, happy birthday Bandit. I have to say my favorite is the one with his chin down feeling a bit humiliated with the hat on.February 11, 2012 – 3:30 pm

Random Ramblings- 8

I have never been a huge fan of the Star Wars movies.  They’re okay and if they are the only thing on tv I’ll watch them, but I’m not what you would call a diehard fan.  Want to know what I am a fan of?  The Ewoks in Return of the Jedi.  At the time I thought they just looked like an oversized teddy bear and just oh-so-cute!  Last week I was sitting on the couch and Bandit started talking.  Yes, talking.  In case you were wondering, when Bandit tries to talk he sounds like an ewok.  It’s pretty much the best entertainment ever.  And another reason to love ewoks even more.

I’m a pretty picky wine drinker, but I think that’s just because I haven’t been properly introduced to wine.  Whatever the reason, I was out to dinner a few weeks ago and tried a new wine that I ended up really liking.  The following week while I was at the store I decided to pick up a bottle of my newly discovered wine only to discover when I got home that I have no wine opener.  That right there is what you would call an epic fail.

Did you see the short and sweet 15-minute photo session I took of my Mom and Dad last week?  Did I mention that they are celebrating forty years of marriage this year?  I love that I have parents who are still together and set a great example of what makes a lasting relationship work.

In case you didn’t see on facebook, I’ll be going to Vegas this month!!  Woohoo!!!  I’m SO excited!  Not about the Vegas part but about what’s happening in Vegas.  Every year there is a photography convention (WPPI) that takes place in the city and for the past few years I have been dying to go, but for various reasons never went.  This year I promised myself that I would go and it is happening.  Not only am I going to get to hear some amazing speakers and learn more about photography and running a business, but I get to spend the time networking with new photographers and spending the week with my photographer friends that I already have but don’t get to see much.  Expect lots of pictures and a full post on this trip when I get back.

And because I feel like a post isn’t complete without a photo.  I saw this little fella sunbathing during Jordan and Ryan’s engagement session and just had to capture it.

Happy  Tuesday!

Geneva and Gary- 40 Years

Can you believe that up until last week I had never taken professional photos of my Mom and Dad?  I know!  I’m a horrible daughter!  In all fairness though, my Dad has been refusing to get photos taken because he hates them.  My Mom and I have been wanting to get some photos of her and my Dad together for a year or so now and we finally made it happen last weekend.

I can’t tell you how much these two mean to me.  They have been there for me for twenty-five years and I know that I’ll always be able to count on them if I need something.  Not only are they amazing parents, but my Mom and Dad are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this year.  I think that’s pretty darn fantabulous and I’m so happy for them!

As I said before, Dad was not a fan of getting his picture taken and spent most of the fifteen minute session making faces like this.  And yes, I’m totally going to put all the “outtakes” into a mini-album to show his future grandchildren.  By the way, he is going to kill me for posting these online.

Ana - Kasey! What an awesome set of pics! wow I can see their personalities through the pics….They are a beautiful couple.
